Welcome! You can call me Sam.
Born and raised in southern Maine, I moved to Boston in 2015 to attend Emerson College. Over the past 3 years, I've studied Journalism trying all forms: radio, broadcast, print and much more. School was been an incredible opportunity to try different forms of storytelling and find what I like. I finished my undergraduate degree in December 2018.
My passion for storytelling has intersected with my interest in food and the restaurant industry. The power of food is beautiful as it allows us to learn, enjoy and respect each other through what we make in our kitchens. My father worked in restaurants while I was growing up – he even named one after me – and my first job was as a breakfast server. I still actively work as a server day-to-day. Being a server leaves me fulfilled every single day by the knowledge of food, wine, and beer I get to continuously develop.
Outside of being a server, food writing has become inevitable. I cherish the opportunity to learn something new, write about it, and share it with others. I believe in bringing kindness, positivity and fun to everything I do but especially my writing.
This website makes available my resume and writing samples. Please feel free to contact me if you're interested in working together. The blog on this site is a space for my thoughts outside of the editorial process. Follow along!
